Ty Pennington did not hire my husband. Ty did not even make an appearance. The work they told Kurt he was going to do did not appear. He did basic painting and they brought in the LA people to do the other stuff. The only person he saw was the guy with the glasses. When Kurt was leaving after being there for 10 hours, a security guard told him to move over so he wouldn't get into the shot.So I will not become a wealthy vagabond but I will be going away over the weekend with some girlfriends to a cabin in the woods. There will be lots of wine and snacks and wine and food and wine. Two nights away has not happened in 5 years since I went away for my 40th birthday. I was very excited about this UNTIL I TOLD MY KIDS.
You would have thought I had killed our cat.
Aaron: That's the day of the Halloween parade!!!
Ella: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Aaron: Why don't you just go away for Christmas too!
Ella: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Aaron: Why do you always have to go somewhere?
Me (in my head): WTF!?!?
I have been made to feel guilty for the past week so needless to say I need this weekend even more.

Yes. I've heard that before: why do you ALWAYS have to go to the movies. You just SAW a movie...Space Chimps! Etc. Etc. Have a wonderful time and forget about them!
I totally understand. I can't go upstairs to pee with out hearing a panicked, "Where's mom?????????????" Last time I went away, I told the kids the night before...and promised gifts when I returned. They shut up for gifts.
And I hate TY.....that sucks.Hate it when you think you may finally have"an out"...and then they tell you to get out of the shot!
Screw Ty. His loss.

Laura gifts seem the way to go. Though in the woods I don't know what I'll get besides pine cones and rocks, though that might be a hit.
Did anyone actually SEE Space Chimps other than my boys and I? I had to pinch myself during it because it felt like 1966 or something. That was the day that I used the Super Combo coupon at the theatre and got a BARREL of popcorn and the boys had a 64oz blue slurpee EACH. I think that it cost $18 or something. And if it wasn't for joyce k's post, I might have laid that memory to rest.
I'm sorry to say I somehow missed out on Space Chimps.
And why do kids use the word "always" instead of "once a long time ago"?
